Arab Spring
It is amazing what can be done when a group of people come together in support of a cause. It is even more amazing what can be done when people throughout the world come together over social media to support a cause. In December of 2012, Mohamed Bouazizi made ultimate sacrifice to show his disagreement over a dispute regarding his selling fruits and vegetables in Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia. This event started a whirlwind of events that led to rulers forced out of power in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and Yemen. It also brought on civil uprisings in Bahrain and Syria and major protests have broken out in Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, and Sudan. There have also been minor protests that have occurred in Mauritania, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, Western Sahara, and the Palestinian Authority. Imagine how slow moving this entire revolution would have been if there were no technology or social media!
