Earlier today I went and helped my mom at the Christmas Neighbors (a community food, clothing, and toy drive for people in the county who can't afford for Christmas). I helped pass out presents and assisted people in picking out presents for their kids. Some people were really sweet, others were really rude and inconsiderate. I don't get it, wouldn't you be grateful? People are going out of their way so you and your kids can have Christmas and you're complaining because you don't like the free things you're getting. It really infuriated me. I still wished them a Merry Christmas and wished them luck in the new year. Maybe when they see the look on their kids' faces and realize just what exactly they got out of Christmas Neighbors they'll appreciate it more. I know a lot of the negativity from the people was probably embarassment, because its hard to admit you can't provide for your family. But at least they can swallow their pride and ask for help. Sometimes you just need a little help to get back on your feet. Then when you're standing back up on both feet, you help someone else out. Its a never-ending cycle.

I really wanted to go give blood this Friday at a local blooddrive but unfortunately it only goes until 11 and I work until 11:30. I need to find a local blood drive and donate before the holidays. During the holiday season so many drunk driving accidents happen. I really wish I could get James to donate, he has a very rare blood type, but he's very uneasy about it. I've never had a problem with needles and always insisted on watching the nurse take my blood or give me a shot. I guess I'm an odd duck. Needless to say, giving blood doesn't phase me. I've given 3 times (had to take a year break in there because of my tattoo) and am ready to start giving again. I'm a common blood type, but there are so many reasons to donate for not only to help other people but it also lowers your blood pressure. If you are interested in donating blood this holiday season go to givelife.org or call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543).
